Location: Stevenage
Salary: Up to £72,000 depending on experience
Bonus: Up to 27%
Car Allowance: £300 per month
Working Pattern: Hybrid – typically 3 days on site
Security Clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship required
We are recruiting a Senior Electronic Test & Testability Engineer to join a highly specialised test architecture function working on complex defence systems. This is a technical authority role, influencing test strategy, test architecture, and testability across the full product lifecycle, from early concept through production and in-service support.
You will operate as a subject matter expert in electronic test and testability, providing technical leadership across multiple programmes and shaping how test systems, BIT architectures, and diagnostic strategies are defined and delivered.
The role

Define and own electronic test strategies for complex electronic and defence systems

Lead the development of test and testability architectures, including BIT coverage and diagnostic capability

Specify and influence test equipment requirements and system interfaces

Analyse production and system test data to identify trends, failure modes, and improvement opportunities

Provide technical leadership and governance across projects, supporting design teams and senior stakeholders

Contribute to improvements in test processes, standards, and ways of working

Support bid activities, technical reviews, and design assurance forums

Mentor and support engineers within the Test & Testability function
What we’re looking for

Degree-qualified in Electronics or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

Significant experience in electronic test across the full project lifecycle

Strong background in electronic circuit design, testing, and failure analysis

Experience defining test equipment requirements and specifications

Proven expertise in testability engineering, DfT, and BIT architecture

Ability to operate as a technical authority and influence senior engineering stakeholders

Experience working in regulated, safety-critical, or defence environments

Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and EU
