We currently have an exciting opportunity for an RF Communications Systems Researcher, with a focus on researching and developing new solutions, concepts and techniques to support future communication capabilities for next-generation defence systems. You will join a world class technical engineering company based in Hertfordshire or Bristol, Avon.
The RF Communications Systems Researcher will have a passion for developing cutting edge technology? You will join a Data Link research & technology team, where you will be a lead researcher working at the very start of the product lifecycle, researching various techniques for application in communication systems, such as Next Generation communication algorithms, Software Defined Radio architectures, Quantum communications, Optical communications, A.I. and more.

Skills and qualifications required from the following:
- Ideally, you will have experience conducting research, and delivering new conceptual ideas. This experience may come from industry, academia or both.
- You will be able to work autonomously within a multi-skilled team with a good understanding and dedication to achieving research aims. You may also have the skills to perform technical investigations, provide problem assessments, and propose design solutions within a culture of innovative thinking.
- We are looking for experience in any of the following skill areas:
- Conducting research through literature surveys
- Interpreting system requirements
- RF / Microwave systems knowledge
- Familiarity with digital signal processing / waveform techniques
- Use of modelling tools such as MATLAB or Simulink
- Awareness of embedded system design
- Good communication skills with the ability to produce high quality written reports and presentations to internal and external customers
- Working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation, and external organisations such as universities, suppliers and customers.
Due to security requirement classification, this role is open to British Citizens, or dual nationals with British citizenship only. You should be able and willing to gain UK security clearance, potentially to DV level in the future.
