The Opportunity
The Beam Director Project Engineer will work with an external partner to deliver the Beam Director Sub-System for a leading laser directed energy defence programme. The Beam Director is an electro-optical-mechanical assembly that points the high energy beam at the desired target. This is integrated to the high energy beam source and assembled on a transportable container assembly.
Reporting to the project sub-system lead; this role will be focused on the acceptance and delivery of the Beam Director sub-system, its final assembly, integration, and test. A proven record of complex sub-system delivery and integration is desirable.
The Beam Director Project Engineer will be responsible for:
- interface management with the external partner, both programmatically and technically;
- acceptance of and delivery of the Beam Director to final assembly, integration, and test;
- supporting the functional integration of the Beam Director within the wider sub-system definition;
- project development in order to continue the evolution of the system.
Skills Required:
You will have experience in or can demonstrate your ability to:
- Operate in the early lifecycle of a project, to drive technical direction for the equipment under development and clarify stakeholder needs
- Worked with third party suppliers and developed technical statements of work and deliverables
- Develop complex electrical equipment or subsystems and ensure the emergent design is compliant to the project requirements
- Proactively engages stakeholders and builds relationships that will further the project
- Lead technical work packages alongside experienced project managers, to demonstrate progress and balance technical risks.
