Environmental Test Engineer

Based in Stevenage

Circa £50,000 + bonus + 14% pension + paid overtime

Not all test roles are equal.

Some run scripts.
Some press buttons.
This one proves whether complex defence systems survive the real world.

You’ll work in a UKAS / ISO 17025 environmental lab, taking products from design intent to proven resilience. Temperature. Shock. Vibration. Humidity. You’ll simulate the environments these systems will actually face, and decide whether they’re ready.

This isn’t passive testing.

You’ll interpret customer requirements, build test strategies, analyse data, challenge results, and feed directly into engineering decisions.

We’re looking for engineers who understand structures and mechanical behaviour, who’ve used accelerometers, thermocouples or strain gauges, and who enjoy solving problems rather than following instructions.

Experience with DEF STAN, MIL-STD 810, STANAG or AECTP standards helps, but mindset matters more. Logical. Methodical. Safety-conscious. Comfortable owning outcomes.

You’ll need to be a British citizen for security clearance.

If you want to test engineering properly, not just observe it, let’s talk.
