EMC Test Engineer
Stevenage | Up to £55,000 + Bonus + Excellent Pension
An established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced EMC Test Engineer to join its specialist Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) team based in Stevenage.
This is a permanent opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art EMC laboratory supporting high-profile defence programmes, delivering critical compliance and qualification testing to UK Defence Standards.
The EMC Test Engineer Role
You will carry out EMC testing on complex electronic and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with DEF STAN and relevant military standards. Working within a dedicated laboratory environment, you will support both risk reduction and formal qualification activities across the full project lifecycle.
EMC Test Engineer Key Responsibilities
• Conduct EMC testing including radiated and conducted emissions and immunity testing
• Execute testing in accordance with DEF STAN, MIL-STD and project-specific requirements
• Support pre-compliance, development and formal qualification testing
• Use Compliance 5 and EMC 32 software for test execution and data capture
• Produce detailed, high-quality technical test reports
• Support root cause investigations and technical discussions with project teams
• Ensure laboratory best practice and adherence to safety and quality procedures
Requirements
• Proven experience delivering EMC testing within a defence or highly regulated environment
• Strong understanding of DEF STAN and military EMC standards
• Hands-on experience with EMC test instrumentation and laboratory-based testing
• Experience using Compliance 5 and EMC 32 software
• Background in electronics, electrical engineering, physics or a related discipline
• Ability to work independently within a structured engineering environment
• Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance (essential)
