Build, maintain and improve the technology behind advanced testing

Want to work with sophisticated simulation, motion control and test equipment rather than sit behind a desk all day?

This is a hands-on opportunity to join a specialist Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) engineering team, helping maintain and develop the equipment used to recreate real flight conditions in a controlled test environment.

You will work with multi-axis motion simulators, antenna positioning systems, control equipment, hydraulics and specialist test hardware, solving problems, improving reliability and supporting new equipment installations and upgrades.

It is a genuinely varied engineering role, bringing together mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, controls and simulation technologies.

What you will be doing

  • Fault-find and repair complex simulator and test equipment
  • Carry out planned and corrective maintenance
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Support equipment upgrades, modifications and obsolescence projects
  • Improve equipment reliability, availability and maintainability
  • Support installation, commissioning and acceptance of new equipment
  • Investigate unfamiliar problems and develop practical solutions
  • Work closely with experienced engineers and technical specialists

What we are looking for

You do not need to be an expert in everything. We are looking for a practical, technically curious engineer with experience in one or more of:

  • Hydraulics or servo-hydraulic systems
  • Electro-mechanical systems
  • Control, motion control or servo systems
  • Able to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Workshop skills (hand and electrical tools)
  • Some activities may involve working at height
  • Experience with CAD, particularly CREO, would also be useful but is not essential.
  • You could come from a Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, Robotics or Aerospace background, with a degree, HNC/HND or engineering apprenticeship.

Most importantly, you will be hands-on, willing to learn and comfortable working as part of a small multidisciplinary team. If you want a role where every day brings a different engineering challenge, this could be a great next move.

The package

Company bonus up to £2,500 | Overtime opportunities | Up to 15 additional days flexi-leave | Pension contribution up to 14% total | Flexible working arrangements | Enhanced parental leave | Subsidised meals and free parking | Healthcare Cash Plan
