Are you an experienced Control Systems Engineer looking to work on some of the UK's most technically challenging engineering programmes?

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering team developing advanced control systems within a cutting-edge research and development environment. You'll be working on complex projects from concept through to integration, validation and testing, helping to solve real-world engineering challenges that demand innovation, technical excellence and systems thinking.

Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll play a key role in defining system architectures, developing sophisticated control strategies and ensuring solutions deliver exceptional performance, reliability and robustness.

What you will be doing

  • Designing and developing advanced closed-loop control systems.
  • Defining system and subsystem architectures covering sensing, actuation, software and power elements.
  • Applying control theory and system dynamics to model, analyse and optimise system performance.
  • Producing technical solutions that balance customer requirements, cost, schedule and technical constraints.
  • Supporting system integration, verification, validation and testing activities.
  • Analysing test results and driving continuous improvement throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Working closely with engineers across multiple disciplines on highly innovative projects.

What we are looking for

  • Degree qualified in Control Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of control theory, system dynamics and mathematical modelling.
  • Experience developing control strategies and analysing system stability and performance.
  • Good knowledge of systems engineering principles.
  • Experience working with both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and technical report writing skills.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to engage confidently with customers and senior stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working within secure or highly regulated engineering environments would be advantageous.

What's on offer

  • Salary of £51,000 - £64,000, 4-day working week (Monday to Thursday), flexible working arrangements, the opportunity to work on technically complex, nationally significant engineering programmes, excellent career development and progression opportunities, a collaborative environment where innovation is encouraged and engineering excellence is valued.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance. Candidates who already hold current DV clearance are particularly encouraged to apply.

If you are passionate about solving complex engineering challenges and want to work at the forefront of advanced control systems development, we would love to hear from you.
