Software Quality Engineer
Bristol, hybrid working
£40,000 to £50,000 + bonus + excellent benefits
You know quality isn’t just process. It’s influence. It’s judgement. It’s the difference between something that works and something that works when it matters most.
This role puts you right in the middle of that.
This isnt a role where you will be qualifying software, but a role where you will be shaping the processes and quality that software engineering teams work by.
You’ll be working with software teams developing complex, safety-critical systems, supporting projects where failure isn’t an option. Not policing from the sidelines, but embedded, influencing, challenging, improving.
If you’ve worked across the software lifecycle and want to step further into quality, assurance, and real engineering impact, this is a strong move.
What you’ll be doing
-
Working alongside software engineers across the full lifecycle
-
Leading and supporting project quality assessments
-
Identifying risks, issues, and areas for improvement
-
Driving best practice across processes, standards, and assurance
-
Influencing teams to deliver better, more robust software
What you’ll bring
-
Experience in software development and/or quality assurance
-
Understanding of software lifecycle and engineering processes
-
Exposure to standards, assurance, or regulated environments
-
Strong communication, able to challenge and influence
-
Calm, structured thinking when things get complex
Audit, configuration management, or requirements tools experience would be useful, but not essential.
Why this role
-
Real engineering impact on complex, high-profile systems
-
Clear development path within quality and assurance
-
Strong benefits package, including bonus, pension, overtime and flexible working
-
A collaborative environment where quality has a voice
You’ll need to be eligible for UK security clearance, holding current British citzenship.
If you’re looking to move from “doing the work” to shaping how it’s done, this is a role worth exploring.
