Lead Electrical Systems Engineer
Bristol | Hybrid | £48,000 - £53,000 + bonus + overtime + strong pension
Some roles design circuits.
Others define how entire electrical systems work together.
This role sits firmly in the second category.
We are looking for an Electrical Systems Engineer / Electrical Architect to take ownership of the electrical architecture across a complex Laser Directed Energy system. You will ensure electrical functionality, performance and constraints are aligned across multiple subsystems, suppliers and design authorities.
This is a system-level engineering role, working at the interface between equipment design, integration and system architecture.
What the role involves
You will act as the technical authority for electrical architecture across the system, ensuring electrical performance, interfaces and constraints are managed across the programme.
Your work will include:
-
Defining and managing electrical requirements across the system
-
Coordinating with equipment design authorities and suppliers
-
Supporting system integration and acceptance of equipment deliveries
-
Leading technical progress meetings and engineering milestone reviews
-
Managing statements of work, performance metrics and technical risks
-
Supporting engineering lifecycle activities including PDR, DDR and CDR
-
Working across systems, mechanical, software and electrical engineering teams
You will spend time working with stakeholders, reviewing designs, supporting integration activities and ensuring electrical architecture decisions support the wider system.
What engineers in this role typically bring

Experience working on complex engineering systems or platforms
-
Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, interfaces or integration
-
Experience working through the engineering development lifecycle
-
Ability to work across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
