Based in Stevenage

Up to £55,000 + bonus + overtime + hybrid working

Not all Linux roles are created equal.

This one sits at the heart of high-performance computing, supporting engineers solving complex, real-world defence challenges. You won’t just keep systems running, you’ll shape how they perform.

You’ll be designing, building and optimising HPC environments. Think clusters, high-speed interconnects, workload schedulers, and performance tuning that actually matters.

If you enjoy getting under the bonnet of Linux systems, squeezing performance from infrastructure, and working closely with engineers who depend on what you build, this is your kind of role.

What you’ll be doing
  • Designing and maintaining HPC clusters, compute, storage and networking
  • Administering and optimising Linux environments, primarily RHEL
  • Managing schedulers like SLURM, PBS or LSF
  • Troubleshooting performance bottlenecks and improving system efficiency
  • Automating provisioning and configuration using tools like Ansible or Puppet
What you’ll bring
  • Strong Linux systems administration experience
  • Exposure to HPC environments or clustered infrastructure
  • Experience with schedulers, automation, and performance tuning
  • A mindset focused on reliability, optimisation and continuous improvement
Why this role stands out
  • Work on genuinely complex, high-impact systems
  • Join a well-regarded, collaborative engineering environment
  • Strong benefits package including bonus, pension, flexi leave
  • Long-term career development in a highly specialised area
Due to the nature of the work, you’ll need to be a British citizen and eligible for DV clearance.

If you want a Linux role where performance actually matters, this is worth a conversation.
