EMC Proving Engineer
Based in Stevenage
Up to £50,000 + bonus + overtime
You don’t just test systems. You prove they work when it matters.
This role puts you right at the sharp end of defence engineering, taking a next-generation system and pushing it through extreme electromagnetic environments to make sure it performs, every time.
You’ll be hands-on. Setting up trials. Running tests in specialist EMC facilities. Breaking things (in a controlled way) and figuring out why. Then proving they meet the standard.
No passengers here. You’ll own what you do.
What you’ll actually be doing
-
Designing and running EMC trials across the full lifecycle
-
Working in anechoic and reverberation chambers
-
Getting hands-on with test rigs, instrumentation and setups
-
Analysing data and turning it into clear engineering evidence
-
Writing reports that feed directly into certification
-
Acting as the link between engineering teams and test facilities
What you’ll bring
-
Experience in EMC, RF or electronic systems testing
-
A practical mindset, someone who enjoys being in the lab, not just behind a screen
-
Strong attention to detail, you spot what others miss
-
Confidence analysing data and backing your conclusions
-
Curiosity, you want to understand how and why things fail
Why this role stands out
-
You’ll work on a live, high-profile UK defence programme
-
Access to industry-leading EMC test facilities
-
Real ownership of trials, not just supporting someone else’s work
-
Clear opportunity to shape how EMC proving is done in the future
If you enjoy hands-on engineering, solving real problems, and seeing the direct impact of your work, this is one worth a conversation.
