Communications Systems Engineer
Based in Gloucester | Hybrid | DV Clearance Required
Salary £50,000 - £80,000 DOE
You don’t just understand communications systems.
You understand how they behave when it really matters.
This role puts you at the sharp end of defence technology, designing and delivering Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems used in complex, real-world environments.
Not theory. Not paperwork.
Proper engineering.
You’ll be shaping system architectures, protocols, and network topologies, working alongside RF, software and systems teams to build communications that actually perform under pressure.
If you’ve worked with SDR, networks, or comms architectures and want more ownership, more complexity, and more impact, this is where it gets interesting.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing and optimising SDR system architectures
- Defining interfaces, protocols, and network structures
- Integrating comms into wider mission systems
- Testing, validating, and improving system performance
- Working across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
What you’ll bring
- Experience with SDR or communications systems
- Strong understanding of protocols, networks, and system design
- Ability to work across hardware and software environments
- A background in defence, cyber, or complex systems is a bonus
What’s in it for you
- Work on genuinely advanced communications tech
- Hybrid working with flexibility built in
- Long-term programmes, not short-term firefighting
- A team that understands engineering, not just process
You’ll need to hold DV clearance.
If you’re ready to work on communications systems that actually get used in the real world, we should talk.
