Base Salary:         £40,000 - £50,000 – Dependant on Experience

Hours:                   37.5 (Average per week)

Working with a global defence leader, we are currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer who will be working on a range of long term national and international projects. This role will see you work across the entire spectrum of systems engineering activities to design, integrate and deliver real systems

As a Systems Engineer, you will operate within the Special Projects team, driving technical design and delivery of conceptual and novel ideas through the full systems lifecycle. This will include lateral thinking, initiative, and self-driven research to deliver programme activities and milestones.

The role will on regular occasions be customer facing, and due to the nature of the work, remote working will rarely be possible. This will be an onsite based role, so the applicant must be prepared to work from the office much of the time.

Systems Engineering Lead responsibilities

  • Tackling complex engineering challenges utilising a multi-disciplinary approach
  • Systems engineering analysis of the consequences of design decisions.
  • Identifying, proposing, and executing self-directed areas of research and development.
  • Interacting with other team members with areas of SME knowledge to develop. promising solutions as part of the wider team.

Systems Engineering Lead skills and qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience delivering solutions to complex systems engineering challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful delivery of work conducted both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience in fast learning of new concepts and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas to both expert and non-expert stakeholders, through written and verbal means.
  • Experience in ballistic missile defence and strategic weapons.
  • Experience in the domain of ballistic missile and strategic system design, performance, and behaviour.
  • Additional understanding of a wide range of engineering disciplines including (but not necessarily limited to) electromechanical systems, software engineering and modern manufacturing processes.
  • Clearance Required for Role is DV, but will need SC to start.
  • Some experienced in Aerothermodynamic modelling/simulation with around 5-7 years of post-graduate experience would be ideal.
  • Ideally will have some experience of high speed (supersonic/hypersonic) aerodynamics, either from university or from industry.
