Software Engineer
Location:          Stevenage
Hours:              37 Hours per week pro rata
Salary:              Up to £60,000 pro rata (plus pro-rata bonus, overtime & good pension)
 
Term time:       The enterprise seeks an experienced software engineer/developer returning to work after caring for the family, female or male. The position is ideal for mothers or fathers still requiring time-off during school holidays but wishing to restart their careers and work during term time.

A Stevenage based technical and scientific engineering organisation have an opportunity for a Software Engineer working in C & C++.

The position
The Software Engineer will join a growing Functional Test Software team developing and delivering innovative test software solutions, exploiting a wide portfolio of software technologies.
It’s a multi-disciplined, dynamic, and agile team of about 50 engineers specialising in all aspects of Test Solution design, including hardware, software and embedded real-time systems.
  • Design and develop Test Equipment software to test world leading complex systems
  • Experiment with new implementations and technologies
  • Work in a Software Engineering office/lab with test equipment and electronic circuitry.
 
Required
Software engineering experience in the development of test solutions is desirable, along with:
  • Ability to write software in C / C++
  • Experience with C# or scripting languages advantageous
  • Understanding of automation, continuous integration and DevOps.
  • Agile development.
  • Knowledge of electronics measurement & debug using eg oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers.
  • Communications and serial interfaces such as RS422, RS485, Modbus, CAN and 1553.
  • Comfort with change. Understanding of continuous improvement in software development
  • Exposure to Test Driven Development, pair programming and lightweight design modelling advantageous.
