Salary:                   Up to £55,000 p/a + benefits (Excellent Bonus, Pension & more)

Hours:                   37 hours per week         

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Simulation & Modelling Group Lead to join a world class technical engineering company based in Stevenage. This role will be critical to developing capabilities to help protect national interests and global security. This could be just what you are looking for?

You will be responsible for the development and management all model development activities to time, cost and quality and auto coded algorithms for delivery to software teams. You will be involved in all aspects of the development, integration, delivery into service and service support aspects; working to identify commons strands and efficient processes.

You will require excellent partner management skills to provide clarity to your team and have experience of leading engineering teams to deliver solutions to engineering problems. Experience of how mathematical models support the engineering process is highly desirable.

As well as the main activities, you will have the opportunity to work with the management team in the UK and internationally to look at improving processes and methodologies to ensure the business are able to continue to deliver high quality solutions into MBDA’s engineering teams.

Typical activities include:

  • You will be co-located within the function allowing a good team spirit and functional identity. This requires the incumbent to be on site in Bristol, most of the time to start with, although there are opportunities for hybrid style working arrangements longer term.
  • You will gain an in-depth exposure to the Modelling tools and process (such as MathWorks).
  • You will have the opportunity to develop relevant skills and apply them in developing large scale models to support the product portfolio.
  • You will have the opportunity to collaborate with international colleagues in France, Italy, and Germany sharing knowledge and deriving best practices.

Skills and qualifications required from the following:

  • Ideally a degree or Masters in a technical engineering, Physics, or Science related subject or equivalent.
  • You will have excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • You will favour a collaborative, open approach to leadership and have the ability to inspire others to reach or exceed common goals and objectives. The models that you deliver will be used across multiple products and sites, so strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and influence others are essential.
  • A good understanding of how model development and usage supports the engineering lifecycle.
  • Able to apply modelling processes in accordance with company quality assurance expectations.
  • Able to work in an agile manner to deal with adapting programme deliveries and timescales

You should be able and willing to gain (UK Eyes only) security clearance, potentially to DV level in the future.
