Radar Subject Matter Expert - Bedford

Location:               Bedfordshire

Salary:                   Up to £65,000 p/a + Benefits (Including 9 Days working fortnight, Pension & Holiday Pay, Life Assurance, plus more)

Hours:                   Average 37.5 hours per week across a 2-week period

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Subject Matter Expert in Radar systems to join a global industry leader in the defence sector, where you will be responsible for the Systems design and delivery of complex programmes.

The Radar Subject Matter Expert Radar will have demonstrable experience of integrating radar systems into data processing, visualisation and C2 systems; this may have been obtained in either the land, sea or air domain. The Radar Subject Matter Expert will be required to lead the selection, integration and delivery of radar sensor components into a wider complex system. In particular, the role will be required to:

  • Develop radar sub-system requirements as a function of system level
  • Understand, quantify and inform as to how radar system options and associated limitations impact complete system performance and behaviour
  • Perform rigorous quantitative radar option trade studies to inform the system design
  • Robustly review and challenge radar suppliers regarding products, interfaces, claimed performance and limitations to ensure accurate representation
  • Derive, develop and manage the radar sub-system requirements and ICD

Skills Required

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience integrating Radar systems into data processing, visualisation and C2 systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of radar systems in order to:
    • Work with potential Radar suppliers to understand the benefits, performance and growth paths for their products
    • Understand the impact of the radar system(s) on overall system behaviour and performance
    • Technically review and challenge radar suppliers on their products, reports and observed performance.
    • Understand nuances of radar limitations and behaviours at system level.
    • Undertake technical trade studies on radar options.
    • Derive, Develop and Manage an appropriate set of sub-system requirements and ICD for a Radar system.

Additionally:

  • Experience of systems engineering lifecycle through the life of a large-scale systems development programme, ideally in the Command & Control domain
  • Experience in the Verification and Validation lifecycle
  • Development of Verification & Acceptance (V&A) statements
  • Knowledge of Comms & RF Network Architectures
  • Change proposal assessment and embodiment
