Salary:                   Up to £55,000 p/a + benefits (Excellent Bonus, Pension & more)

Hours:                   37 hours per week         

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Design Assurance Technical Advisor to join a world class technical engineering company based in Bristol. The role lies within a department which is responsible for acting as the final certifier of all product design, assuring technical excellence, whilst minimising technical risk.

The principal role of the Design Assurance Technical Advisor is to assure that the company has sufficient evidence to support its claims for the compliance of its products to the declared technical requirements.

This requires engagement with the engineering teams, across the whole of the lifecycle, to ensure that design assurance and certification plans are appropriate, requirements are verifiable, with identified proving strategies and that compliance and certification is appropriately conducted and evidenced.

Typical activities include:

  • Review and approve all design certification and associated compliance evidence before formal signature on behalf of the company.
  • Carry out an independent review which covers the accuracy of the verification evidence, any declared exceptions and the pertinence of the declared limitations and advice.
  • Influence both the planning for and realisation of a certified product that will meet the specified requirements and needs of the customer, when in service.
  • The chance to develop an extensive network across Project and Functional engineering teams and to gain exposure up to Project Chief Engineer level.
  • Significantly develop your engineering experience & network, with a pragmatic assurance perspective, as a step in your longer-term career development.
  • Develop and share best practice and to mentor project teams undertaking related activities.

Skills and qualifications required from the following:

  • Ideally a degree or Masters in Electronic Engineering, Physics or Science related subject.
  • Significant knowledge and experience of complex System development, including general engineering skills.
  • Experience of Requirement development and maturation.
  • Experience of Design Assurance, Verification and Certification.
  • Experience of the overall product lifecycle.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work and manage in complex, multi-faceted environments and to prioritise effectively.
  • Significant affinity for ownership of issues and a real desire to improve the status-quo.
  • Ability to fact find and investigate issues across a wide range of technical areas.
  • Ability to encourage an environment of co-operation and to coach others, to help develop and spread best practice.

You should be able and willing to gain (UK Eyes only) security clearance, potentially to DV level in the future.
