The opportunity:
You will:
- Lead and manage a team of highly skilled and technical individuals, providing support and clarity of direction to enable them to achieve their best.
- Endeavour to gain a thorough understanding of the product line
- Collaborate with systems engineering teams to understand the algorithm requirements and their operational context
- Steer and support the high-level design of algorithms that meet the system requirements
- Collaborate with software teams to facilitate algorithm implementation and deployment
- Commit to ensuring reliable, robust algorithms through fostering the adoption of rigorous procedures and best working practices
- Influence how the team develop algorithms within the team and more widely across the business
- Represent the team and its work to senior leadership and external partners
- Facilitate the growth and development of the team, and how it adapts to meet evolving technological needs

Essential criteria:
- Experience in:
- Leading technical teams and taking responsibility for their personal development.
- Overseeing and delivering complex technical projects.
- Ability to:
- Communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Prioritise tasks in-line with customer demand.
- Motivate team to focus on specific objectives.
- Desirable experience:
- Software development.
- Mathematical modelling and analysis.
- Numerical simulation.
- Data science, especially machine learning.
- MATLAB, Simulink and Python.
