Software Project Manager
Location:          Bristol
Hours:              37 Hours per week pro rata
Salary:              From £70K (bonus, overtime & good pension)
 
Context
A world leading, defence engineering enterprise has a Software Project Lead position. There’s a customer order book of several years, strong profits year on year; they’re stable with controlled growth and a strong pension & bonus.
 
This is an opportunity to take your Software Project Manager experience into the defence software realm.
 
Staff development and training is taken seriously, they have a reputation for it, for example they have their own software university.
 
Responsibilities: Software Project Manager
 
This company is hiring experienced web development people because they have so much experience of Agile and can apply Agile and modern software development techniques within the defence sector. Sound like you, a leader and Software Project Manager?
 
You’ll work with mission planning software; software created with the stakeholders involved in operational missions from the countries most senior to those at the sharp end in theatre.
 
  • Act as Software Design Authority by ensuring quality standards are met, leading the formal software release process and continuously looking for ways to increase quality, safety and security.
  • Collaborate with partners to guide future product line roadmaps.
  • Manage customers internally and Software Engineering and across the wider project, including the Software Requirements Authority and the Head of Weapon System Sub-System.
  • Responsible for managing allocated project budgets.
  • Maintain and communicate the project schedule, coordinate with the team on delivery milestones.
  • Work with the Group to identify improvement opportunities and support their implementation.
  • Control project backlogs
  • Support the creation of project and release documentation
